Nina & Grandpa visit

My parents came to Waco last weekend for JC's birthday.

On Friday, we played ball outside until it was too dark to play anymore. JC played kick, catch, throw and chase the ball. He giggled and chuckled the whole time. He was having so much fun. Jetta enjoyed running for a while, but went back inside with Nina. Julia also had fun playing, but decided to make "green" salad with leaves, grass and shrubs. We had dinner at home and homemade pudding dessert, which was Strawberry Creme pudding with graham crackers and whipped cream. Julia told me I better not ever give her "that stuff again-- it was gross!" I thought it was pretty good for a 4-ingredient dessert. We watched New Mexico videos and went to bed. It was an early night for everybody.

On Saturday, we got up and had breakfast: drop biscuits, scrambled eggs and turkey bacon. Yum! Julia liked my cooking this time (she most always does). We got ready for the birthday party, then celebrated at Young Champions (see blog below). For lunch we had Whataburger (Grandpa's request). Then it was time for naps and Mom and I took on our mother-daughter bonding chore-- clean out closets and drawers, sorting and organizing. We got some things ready for Smartypants (2nd's shop) then went and did some selling/shopping. For dinner, we ate at Rosa's Cafe and the kids were fixiated on the tortilla-making machine. We had a great time chatting and we had sopapillas for dessert. Yum again! The ladies in the kitchen aisle loved looking at the kids through the window and one lady came out to pinch Jetta's cheeks. We came home and JC opened his presents from Grandpa/Nina, Susan/Andrew, Matt/Brandy and us. He got a harmonica and it was funny watching him figure out what to do before Grandpa showed him. He likes his motorcycles and plays with them often. He also likes the clothes and keeps picking out new stuff to wear this week.

On Sunday, JC stayed home with Grandpa (JC had a bit of an upset stomach through the night). We went to church then met for lunch at Fazoli's. Grandpa liked watching Jetta get grumpy over food-- he kept laughing at her frumpy grumpy frown. Grandpa and Nina hit the road to head back to KC about 1:30. The kids took LONG LONG naps that afternoon! How lovely to end a great weekend with a nap!

She put a piece of it in her mouth and we think she scratched her lip. She kept complaining all weekend that her lip hurt, but wouldn't tell us why or what happened!
