We had a nice July 4th, low-key and laid back. We took the kids to a families house in Lorena and enjoyed BBQ and then drove back to Waco for fireworks. We have found "our spot" for fireworks on top of one of the parking garages at Baylor. The kids love going up there and seeing the fireworks. It's just close enough that they can see them well, but far enough away you can't hear the boom.
For fun, that weekend we took the kids outside for a "Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest." Julia called it "Seed Spit Contest" and JC just spit the whole pieces of watermelon. Eventually, we threw fruit as far as we could, then ended up throwing it at each other. It was just enough that we could wipe off with washcloths before bed.
