Race for the Cure, 2009

Last year, we walked the 5K with the kids. This year, April 16, there were bad rainstorms and Jeff stayed home with the kids, while Pam & I went to the Race. The sky looked like it would open up rainfall anytime after we visited the sponsor tents, so we walked the 1 mile. Pam is a 6 year survivor, so it was great to celebrate with her and see her wear pink. There were over 5,000 people out there and there was one guy totally painted pink from his hair to his socks & shoes (creepy!). When we came back to our house, we showed the kids all our stuff from our goodie bags and they really enjoyed the "treats." Julia put on all the beads and then the scarf, she was dancing like a gypsy. We then went to Barnes & Noble. How great is a bookstore on a rainy day?? I took a picture of the rain downpour by our carport on our way to the bookstore.

We had lunch at Jason's Deli, then around Jeff's time to get ready for work he was sick and the next 7 hours of our day were spent together at the new Hillcrest Hospital ER to find out he has severe gastritis with nausea. This made me reflect and wish there was a "race for ER cure", they didn't seem to have any sense of urgency at the new hospital.
